How Fayette County Resident Can Apply for the $14M Home Energy Program

Fayette County homeowners may be able to receive pre-weatherization repairs and energy-efficiency upgrades through the new $14 million Fayette County Community Resilience Program. The initiative, funded by QTS Data Centers and created with Georgia Power, is intended to help more than 800 eligible households lower energy costs and improve home safety.

Applications and guidance are being handled by Groundswell, which serves as the program’s Energy Navigator. Eligible Georgia Power customers in Fayette County can review program details and apply online through Groundswell.

Who May Be Eligible

The program is aimed at Georgia Power customers living in Fayette County whose homes need foundational repairs before standard weatherization work can be completed.

Eligibility and approved improvements are determined through an individual home assessment. That means residents should be prepared to provide information about their household, home condition and current energy needs when applying.

What the Program May Cover

Funding can address structural, health and safety issues that must be resolved before energy-efficiency improvements are installed. Once a home is ready, the program may support upgrades that reduce energy waste and improve comfort.

Potential improvements include:

  • Attic insulation.

  • Air-gap and leak sealing.

  • Smart thermostats.

  • Sealing heating and air-conditioning ducts.

  • Servicing existing heating and cooling systems.

  • Upgrading gas furnaces, boilers and water heaters.

Not every household will receive every upgrade. The final scope of work depends on the home assessment and program eligibility requirements.

How To Apply Through Groundswell

Residents can begin by visiting Groundswell’s website, where the organization provides application assistance and directs residents through the repair and weatherization process.

Applicants should expect to:

  1. Confirm they are a Georgia Power customer in Fayette County.

  2. Review the program’s eligibility details online.

  3. Submit an application through Groundswell.

  4. Complete any requested documentation or screening steps.

  5. Schedule or await a home assessment.

  6. Receive a determination of eligible repairs and upgrades.

Groundswell will provide technical screening, application assistance and direct guidance to residents navigating the process. Its work focuses on home repairs and energy-efficiency upgrades that can improve affordability, health and resilience.

Where To Get Help

The Same House is leading local outreach to help residents learn about the program. Homeowners with questions about eligibility, applications or available repairs can contact Groundswell through its website.

Residents who are not selected for the program can still explore energy-saving options through Georgia Power’s residential energy-efficiency programs. Additional federal guidance on insulation, air sealing, thermostats and heating-and-cooling maintenance is available from the U.S. Department of Energy.
