Capital One $425M Settlement: Are You Eligible for a Payout?

If you held a Capital One 360 Savings account between September 18, 2019, and June 16, 2025, you may be due a payout from a $425 million class action settlement.

This stems from allegations that Capital One advertised high-yield savings interest but kept older accounts earning very low rates around 0.3%, while its newer 360 Performance Savings accounts reached 4.3%.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reported that customers lost out on more than $2 billion in interest.

What the Settlement Includes

  • $300 million allocated for automatic cash payments to eligible account holders

  • $125 million set aside as ongoing interest for those who keep their 360 Savings account open

No Claim Needed, What You Should Do

  • Payments are automatic—no claim forms required.

  • Deadline: By October 2, 2025, you should update your payment info or choose the one-time payout option if you plan to close your account.

Extra for Early Closures

  • If you close your account before October 2, you may receive a ~15% larger cash payout, but you’ll forfeit future interest payments. Keeping the account open entitles you to ongoing interest benefits instead.

What You Should Do Now

  • Visit the official settlement site: capitalone360savingsaccountlitigation.com

  • Update your contact or payment preferences to ensure smooth delivery

  • If you're unsure of eligibility, check the site, it likely includes your info already

Legal Final Steps

  • A final court hearing is scheduled for November 6, 2025

  • Once approved, payouts are expected to start within about 60 days after approval

Bottom line: If you qualify, no action required unless you're closing your account (for a higher lump sum) or updating how you’ll receive your payout. But don’t wait, October 2 is the deadline.
